Ganga Snan, Jal Collection & Relay Begins
The Mahayatra begins after Ganga Snan and sacred Jal collection. The first stretch moves through the Haridwar–Meerut–Delhi NCR corridor before continuing towards Mathura. Runner deployment begins immediately while the support convoy manages the route.
Mathura → Jhansi
The relay pushes south from Mathura through Agra, Dholpur and Gwalior before reaching Jhansi. The sacred Jal continues through every handover.
Jhansi → Bhopal Outer
From Jhansi the route moves towards Sagar before taking the planned western diversion towards Bhopal Outer, avoiding the Seoni forest corridor used in the earlier route plan.
Bhopal Outer → Nagpur
The relay continues through central India, crossing the Betul corridor before entering Nagpur. The support convoy remains active throughout the long central-India stretch.
Nagpur → Adilabad
The relay leaves Nagpur and heads south towards Telangana. The landscape changes as the team crosses into the Deccan and continues towards Adilabad.
Adilabad → Hyderabad Outer
A long Deccan crossing takes the relay from Adilabad through Nirmal towards the Hyderabad Outer corridor. The support system remains active through the entire moving relay.
THE DECCAN
CENTRAL INDIA BEHIND · SOUTH INDIA AHEAD
Hyderabad → Kurnool
The Mahayatra leaves Hyderabad and continues south through the Mahbubnagar corridor towards Kurnool.
Kurnool → Anantapur
The relay continues south-west through the Andhra interior, covering the Kurnool–Anantapur corridor as the destination steadily comes closer.
Anantapur → Bengaluru Border
The relay enters Karnataka and approaches Bengaluru, continuing through the southern Deccan towards the Bengaluru border.
Bengaluru Border → Salem
The relay moves through the busy Bengaluru–Hosur–Krishnagiri–Salem commercial corridor. Runner and support-vehicle separation, visibility and convoy coordination remain important through high-traffic sections.
Salem → Dindigul
The relay continues deeper into Tamil Nadu, crossing the Karur corridor before reaching Dindigul. The southern landscape now dominates the journey.
Dindigul → Ramanathapuram
The final major southbound push begins. The relay passes the Madurai bypass and continues through Paramakudi towards Ramanathapuram.
Ramanathapuram → Rameshwaram Temple
Deadline day. The final morning push carries the sacred Ganga Jal across the Pamban approach into Rameshwaram. The target is to reach the temple by evening and complete the north-to-south relay.
Ramanathapuram → Rameshwaram
Ganga Jalabhishekam followed by the evening grand completion celebration. The sacred journey from Haridwar to Rameshwaram reaches its ceremonial conclusion.
Departure
Departure after completion of the Mahayatra. Participants may proceed towards Madurai Airport or Rameshwaram Railway Station as per their onward travel arrangements.

Are you ready to take on a challenge that has never been attempted like this before? The Longest Relay Race brings together 51 women for a 16-day, 3000+ KM journey from Haridwar to Rameshwaram. This isn’t simply a run—it is a test of endurance, discipline, teamwork, commitment and devotion. The Longest Relay Race India has to offer is designed around one powerful idea: 51 women, one moving convoy, and one continuous relay carrying sacred Ganga Jal from Haridwar to Rameshwaram.
Beginning on 18 July 2027, the Haridwar to Rameshwaram Relay Race starts with Ganga Snan and the collection of sacred Ganga Jal before the relay gets underway. From that moment, the journey moves continuously towards the south, with runners taking turns to keep the sacred relay moving forward.
This is a challenge specifically designed for women with genuine running ability. Each woman will run approximately 20 KM every active relay day, contributing approximately 240 KM in total across the journey. We are looking for women who can run at a sustained speed of 10 KM per hour and are capable of maintaining that pace continuously for 30 minutes. This is not a casual group walk or an ordinary pilgrimage—it demands physical preparation, running discipline and the ability to perform consistently as part of a team.
Every runner will have a defined role within the relay. The success of the entire journey depends on every participant completing her assigned running segments and making each handover smoothly. One woman takes the relay forward, another takes over, and the sacred Ganga Jal continues moving south. Together, the 51 women become one team, connected by a single purpose.
The journey travels across North India, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu before reaching Rameshwaram. The route passes through major corridors and cities including Mathura, Jhansi, Sagar, Bhopal, Betul, Nagpur, Adilabad, Hyderabad, Kurnool, Anantapur, Bengaluru, Salem, Dindigul and Ramanathapuram before the final approach to Rameshwaram.
Throughout the journey, participants will be supported by a moving operational convoy designed to keep the relay organised and moving. Accommodation, vegetarian meals, guides, medical support, event coordination, event T-shirts, and ₹2,00,000 medical and accidental insurance are included. The support system is designed to allow the runners to focus on their performance and their role in the relay while the operational team manages the logistics of the expedition.
The Longest Relay Race concludes with Ganga Jalabhishekam at Rameshwaram Temple, followed by a Grand Completion Party. The sacred Ganga Jal collected at Haridwar will finally reach its destination, bringing this extraordinary north-to-south journey to its ceremonial conclusion.
